At Lakeside Audiology, we want every patient to leave feeling they received top-notch hearing care wrapped in genuine conversation and knowledge.
Dr. Kim Block grew up in Howard County,Maryland, and completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) in 2006. Prior to opening Lakeside Audiology, her experience included working at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland, Providence Health System in Portland, Oregon, and Cornerstone Ear, Nose & Throat in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In 2015, Dr. Block opened Lakeside Audiology in response to the great need she observed in her area for evidence-based hearing healthcare for pediatrics and adults. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to build a space where people of any age with hearing loss and hearing concerns can seek the comprehensive and personalized care they deserve. She and her staff provide extensive services in behavioral and electrophysiological hearing evaluation, management of hearing loss through amplification and rehabilitation, cochlear implant evaluation, programming and follow-up care, and contract educational audiology services. She is Board Certified in Audiology and holds Specialty Certification in Pediatric Audiology. Dr. Block is licensed to practice audiology in both North and South Carolina.
Outside of her passion for Audiology, her greatest joy is her family. She and her husband, Andrew, are residents of Tega Cay, where they are raising their three daughters.
Dr. Meghan Jensen joined the Lakeside Audiology team in 2017. She has extensive experience working with pediatric and adult populations. Her strong background in diagnostics and amplification comes from years of experience working in both medical and private practice settings. A significant amount of her past work experience was gained at Cornerstone Ear, Nose and Throat in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as the Director of Audiology Services. Prior to that, she worked in a private practice audiology setting and had numerous internships at larger medical centers in Maryland, where she did her clinical training.
Dr. Jensen earned her Master’s degree in Audiology from University of Maryland, College Park, and her Doctorate of Audiology from Salus University in Pennsylvania. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and has earned her Specialty Certification in Pediatric Audiology from the American Board of Audiology. Dr. Jensen is licensed to practice in both North and South Carolina. She has proudly served on the Board of Directors for Beginnings of North Carolina, a non-profit organization that serves families of Deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
Dr. Jensen resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, Matt, and their two young sons.
Shannon Weynand, MS CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVEd is a speech and language pathologist as well as a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS). Shannon grew up in the Charlotte suburbs and earned her Bachelor of Science in Linguistics as well as her Master's of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at Chapel Hill, Shannon spent two semesters training under the guidance of the Children's Cochlear Implant Center at UNC. After graduation, Shannon worked in a unique integrated environment at The River School in Washington, DC, which placed children with hearing loss from preschool to third grade in classrooms with typically developing children. There she provided both parent-coaching through auditory-verbal therapy as well as push-in therapy for the children with hearing loss in both the preschool and school-age classroom settings. For the past two years, she has worked in a private practice setting with children with a variety of speech and language delays. In addition to collaborating with families, educators, and audiologists, Shannon is especially passionate about spreading the knowledge of LSL principles around the world and has helped train educators in India with Ending All Roads to Silence (EARS) as well as in Vietnam and Mongolia with the Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss.
In 2019, Shannon sat for her LSLS Exam and earned the designation of Auditory-Verbal Educator (AVEd). As part of her certification, she logged over 900 client hours working with children with hearing loss and their families.
Shannon is licensed to practice speech therapy in both North and South Carolina.
Shannon currently lives in Charlotte with her husband Bryan, son Robert, and their slightly crazy Australian Shepherd.
“I have two children with hearing loss and have worked with many audiologists over the years. Lakeside Audiology provides AMAZING care. Both Dr. Block and Dr Jensen are professional, caring and experts in the field of pediatric audiology. They are great with babies, young children and teenagers. Without hesitation I recommend this practice.”
“Lakeside Audiology has been so amazing for my little guy with hearing loss. We switched to Dr. Jensen after a not so great experience at another audiologist office. Our insurance doesn’t cover visits, but thankfully BabyNet works closely with Lakeside. We plan to stay with Lakeside, even if it’s not covered by the time he’s 3. Dr. Jensen has always been very supportive of each stage we have been through so far and the decisions we have made for our son. She has been more than helpful and encouraging through our journey and I trust her fully. I would highly recommend Lakeside Audiology to anyone..of any age! These ladies are just wonderful!”
“BEST place for the entire family for all of your hearing needs. My 3 year old daughter was seen by Dr. Kim Block and it was a fantastic experience. As a newer mother, the facility did a great job helping a nervous mother and daughter through the process of scheduling, the actual appointment, and explaining the results. It was such a easy and painless process. I highly recommend this friendly facility to care for your loved ones. In addition, to the great service, both audiologists are highly educated and trained, which you can TRUST. The brand new and clean facility has the highest quality equipment and clean toys for the children to play with. I can’t say enough great things about this place. This is a no-brainer, call and make an appointment today!”
“We switched to Lakeside after years at multiple audiologists for my two young children with hearing loss. There is no comparison! Dr. Jensen and Dr. Block are both so nurturing and kind, yet professional and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to show my family the best care at every appointment.”
“I can’t even begin to say enough about Dr. Block. Our daughter has severe/profound bi-lateral sensorineural hearing loss and we have been to many audiology offices in the last 2 years. We couldn’t be happier to have finally landed in an office where our daughter is a person, friend and family member of this practice instead of another medical chart. Dr. Block is thorough, willing to listen and is amazing at what she does. So happy to have her in our lives as we continue down this hearing loss journey!”
