Gentle Hearing Care for Newborns

Early evaluations like ABR testing ensure your baby’s hearing health and support their speech and language development.

Newborn Hearing Evaluation

At Lakeside Audiology, we conduct comprehensive newborn hearing evaluations in accordance with JCIH (Joint Committee on Infant Hearing) guidelines, utilizing diagnostic Auditory Response (ABR) testing to accurately identify hearing loss as early as possible. Early detection and diagnosis are critical to initiating timely intervention, optimizing auditory development, and supporting language acquisition during this crucial period.

What to Expect

Here’s how we make your child’s ABR test comfortable and stress-free:

Preparing for Your Baby’s Hearing Test

  • Arrive a bit early to tackle paperwork and let your little one get comfy in the new setting.
  • Bring their favorite blanket, pacifier, or bottle for added comfort during the test.
  • Ensure a full tummy and clean diaper right before the test. A relaxed or sleeping baby means better results.
  • Stay calm and reassuring. Babies may get fussy, but your presence is a comforting touch.
* Newborn Hearing Screening: Allow about 30 minutes.
* Diagnostic ABR Evaluation: Plan for around 90 minutes.
